Job title: Sr. Demand Planner Rust-Oleum
Rust-Oleum is a 100-year-old manufacturer of protective paints, coatings, lubricants, and specialty products for both home and industry.
JOB PURPOSE
This individual will report into the Supervisor of the Demand Planning team that develops accurate and timely demand forecasts while reducing inventory/working capital and minimizing forecast variability for all Rust-Oleum products across all channels and customers. This forward-thinking individual will work collaboratively within and beyond the organization especially with sales, marketing, and product management functions.
KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop accurate and timely demand forecast while reducing inventory/working capital, and minimizing forecast variability
- Partner with commercial teams (Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Finance, and Customer Service) to gather inputs to build the consensus demand plan through the SIOP process for the appropriate time frames
- Work closely with the operations functions (supply chain, operations, distribution) to understand and resolve known supply constraints or excess inventory risks and communicate to commercial teams in the SIOP demand review
- Ensure consistency of forecast assumptions across the business unit, including base business trends, promotional plans, new launch volumes, planogram changes & seasonal volume
- Use, maintain, and enhance the use of existing Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool
- Ensure alignment of Demand Forecast with Sales Estimate and financial plans; Provide reconciliation and analysis of variance
- Focus on accuracy of demand plan for new product launches, based on accurate analysis of distribution builds and velocity/share expectations
- Analyze historical sales data and future plans. Work cross-functionality to achieve continuous improvement in demand forecast accuracy. Improve overall demand plan.
- Prepare written analyses, documentation, reports or other data
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Education: BA/BS degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or operations . MBA preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in supply chain and operations functions, preferably in consumer products environment
- Certifications: APICS or other supply chain / forecasting Certification preferred

- Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
- Knowledge of SAP and/or other advanced planning software related to demand planning is required.
- This position requires strong analytical, organizational, decision making, facilitation, persuasion, and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills essential to effectively interact cross-functional, areas and levels of business affecting the demand planning process
- Advanced Experience with other software packages including Windows, and Microsoft Office required
