Responsibilities

The system architect will work across Draper’s program and engineering organizations to conceptualize and develop novel autonomous systems technology.

Example projects include: Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), guided parafoils, guided munitions, space systems and ground robotics.

The position will be a technical leader for Draper’s strategy to engage sponsors, frame solutions, execute programs and transition technology.

A successful candidate will be a self-starting, strategic thinker with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex technical programs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • S. in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics and 20+ years (15+ with Ph.D.) experience in the development of advanced technology for national security applications.
  • A current understanding of the DOD’s challenges, and solutions to, fielding autonomous systems.
  • Ability to create and present executive level documents and presentations to communicate holistic solutions to existing and future DOD mission requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting organizational vision, developing technical strategies and executing on ensuing projects.
  • Strong ability to couple conceptual level thinking, creativity and resourcefulness with detailed project execution.

Preferred Qualifications
:
  • Ability to develop and maintain high-visibility external working relationships and keep abreast of the state-of-the-art.
  • Willingness to travel to engage in customer discussion as well as industrial and academic forums.
  • Experience with the application of Model-Based Engineering approaches to the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Understanding of the DOD budgeting, solicitation and acquisition processes.

Security Requirement
