General Description:
Functions as the Team Leader for their assigned service line. Acts as the first point of contact for any situation related to their service line.
Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.
- Demonstrates use of the interdisciplinary team approach to patient care; collaborates, confers and updates provider, patient, family and other team members regarding patient progress, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Mentor other therapists, by providing coaching and guidance to improve their acumen
- Collaborates and leads service line team to assure all patients are assigned for care
- May assist leadership with communication to employees
- Collaborate with department leadership and research and education coordinator to develop competencies and education
- Assist in the education mission of OU Health thru active support and facilitation of student supervision
- Involved in performance improvement for their service line and assists in identification of process and data collection
- Demonstrates and articulates sound clinical reasoning through synthesizing evaluation data from initial patient assessment, medical history and provider orders to develop a comprehensive plan of care. Follows intervention protocols/guidelines and adapts conventional therapy techniques to meet the needs of the patient. Performs regular re-evaluations to determine patient progress and adjusts or alters plan of care accordingly.
- Records, monitors, and analyzes clinical data to review, reevaluate and modify treatment plan and goals.
- Determines when patient progress and goals have been met or medical necessity no longer warrants intervention. Establishes provisions for continuing services and makes referrals to other professionals regarding patient care as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology required.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist required.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology required. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply evidence based practices utilizing the current principles, methods, practices, techniques, equipment and procedures of therapy with all patients.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation science sufficient to evaluate and treat patients. Ability to maintain effective working relationships and communication with staff and providers.
- Excellent communication skills in guiding patients to assume responsibility for their treatment and development.
- Proficient in information systems (i.e. Microsoft office, etc.)
