Job Summary
Responsible for providing strategic finance management for the physician practice enterprise. Key areas of focus include mergers, acquisitions & due diligence, provider compensation, contract management, budget compliance, strategic planning, business analytics and reporting. The manager is also responsible for completing special strategic finance projects as required. The manager reports directly to the Director of Strategic Finance within the physician practice enterprise. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide accurate financial advisory services to both clinicians and administrators. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of finance, physician compensation, and business analytics. Job Description

Strategic Finance Manager will be responsible for supporting the Physician Enterprise. In addition to completing standard accounting duties, the main focus for this role is to evaluate the current financial state of all the clinics across the Memorial Hermann system as well as oversee all performance and assess key metrics.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
  • Candidate with MBA, Masters of Finance or Masters in Healthcare Administration highly preferred
  • Medical group finance experience highly preferred
  • Experience working in finance in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Healthcare operations experience a plus
  • Must meet all of the following Minimum Qualifications to be considered for this role

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Healthcare Administration, or equivalent field; Master's degree is preferred

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Five (5) years of progressive financial and strategic; experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively work with multiple stakeholders both internal and external to Memorial Hermann; requires effective interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills to manage subordinates.
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office competency required; specialized Excel and Financial Modeling competencies are preferred.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Manages the day-to-day workload of all financial/business analysts within the team.
  • Creates and implements financial pro-formats to assess financial outcomes of business unit projects and potential mergers/acquisitions.
  • Assists the Director in creating financial projections and budgets for the physician practice enterprise.
  • Provides guidance to operational leaders and practice managers for budget compliance/variance reporting.
  • Manages the month-end reporting process, including review and assessment of financial outcomes for executive management.
  • Constructs, manages, and guides direct reports in organizational database management.
  • Manages the execution of provider compensation pay processes by adhering to contract and system standards.
  • Collaborates with third parties during due diligence to establish fair market values of acquisition targets and provider compensation structures.
  • Prepares financial models and analytics as necessary for special projects requested by senior leadership.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
