PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Constellation Power Technical Specialist is responsible for the safe and productive implementation of all testing work tasks related to the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of generation plant and substation assets, as well as ensuring compliance with all Constellation Corporation safety requirements and adherence to established programs and procedures. This position is also to ensure reliability of Constellation Corporation operations by creating testing work packages for repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications. Develop work plans that ensure that work force operates in a safe and efficient manner by (1) determining applicable Constellation Corporation policies, Constellation Power Procedures, Relay Testing Guides, programs, and processes; (2) identifying relevant codes and standards; and (3) incorporating industry and operational lessons learned


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Must demonstrate characteristics of the leadership fundamentals and enforce the Generation Fundamentals by serving as a role model and providing feedback and coaching as needed. Provide supervision and direction to contractors and internal resources for corrective testing repairs, preventative maintenance and the execution of modifications and projects. Determine procedures, drawings, equipment, estimated time, materials and specialized labor required to perform planned work packages. Formulate and document appropriate plans for testing work in tailored work packages and instructions after consulting with company specialists and reviewing requirements that are determined as necessary. Interprets test results and assists Engineering with trending of data.
  • Manage all Mid-Atlantic electrical testing programs including NERC related testing and maintenance. Supports the entire fleet as needed. Maintain all testing records and associated dates. Work with sites to stay in compliance and within procedures. Interprets test results and assists Engineering with trending of data. Oversees Contractors and shift team activities in preparation for Electrical Testing.
  • Develop and verify work instructions and requested zones of protection to ensure adequacy and compliance with all applicable Exelon Corporation procedures and governmental regulations (i.e. clearance, Ready to Start, Pre-energization, OSHA, lockout/tagout etc.) Approve and review all required work packages to ensure safety, high quality, and detail. Work with operations on writing clearance order steps and assisting with clearance order hanging. Must be able to be clearance order holder as well contractor oversight. Provides support and oversight for Electrical LOTO activities.
  • Perform all electrical commissioning testing new projects as well as modifications. Perform design/print modifications work when required for projects and modifications Oversees Contractors and shift team activities in preparation for Electrical Testing.
  • Performs safety audits and job briefs. Conduct field walk downs, when appropriate, to identify and analyze corrective and preventative maintenance, modifications, and project activities. The walk down serves as a method for refining and improving the work package process. Interface and collaborate with Work Management, Supply Management, OPS, and Engineering to identify and resolve work package issues. Serves as a liaison to supervision and management by reporting and providing feedback concerning possible shortcomings, training requirements and job quality analysis
  • Work with interconnected Transmission and Distribution Operators to coordinate outages and electrical testing work between the two companies. Participate in interface calls.

Hourly Salaries Starting at $88,200 to $98,0000

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) year Degree/Education in an Electronic/Electrical discipline and/or equivalent. Equivalent has been defined as a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum 7 years Power Plant experience and or Substation experience.
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards
  • Must be able to reliably report to work locations throughout the Exelon Fleet
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and concepts (e.g., AC/DC electrical theory)
  • Knowledge of Power Plant and Substation electrical power equipment, including a demonstrated knowledge and experience of Apparatus testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and strong customer focus skills
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software applications (MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and equipment testing software.
  • Qualified Clearance and Tagging Holder.
  • Ability to plan maintenance work orders


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four (4) year degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or NETA qualified technician.
  • Motor, Transformer, Generator, Circuit Breaker, Cable, and associated equipment diagnostic testing experience.
  • Protective Relaying, Metering, and Communication Control systems experience.
  • Experience with repair of power plant electrical equipment.
