Job Description


This role will support the Treasury Department's day-to-day reporting and operational activities. This position follows department objectives and provides staff with timely reporting for critical financial considerations. The Treasury Department is responsible for the following key functions within the credit union: Interest Rate Risk Management Identify, measure, and report balance sheet interest rate risk. Measure the value of all assets and related returns to determine which assets the credit union should keep on balance sheet, and which should be sold. Investment Portfolio Management Invest excess funds in accordance with NCUA regulations, Colorado State Statutes, and credit union policies. Evaluate new investment strategies and make recommendations to the CFO. Track and report investment strategy performance. Liquidity Management Monitor liquidity position. Manage liquidity for day-to-day operations as well as into the future. Maintain the liquidity policy and Contingency liquidity policy to insure compliance with regulatory guidelines. Derivative Portfolio and Hedging Management Identify opportunities, propose strategies, measure, and manage the derivative portfolio in accordance with NCUA regulations, and Colorado State Statutes. Work closely with third party specialty CPA firms and advisory groups. Prepare derivative reports that enable the Board of Directors, Senior Management, and Management to evaluate the effectiveness of the derivatives strategy. Work with the CFO to develop new strategies, present such strategies to the ALCO and implement those strategies. Budgeting Manage and coordinate the development of the Interest Rate Risk portion of the annual budget. Secondary Market Manage and coordinate the purchase and sale of loans while ensuring proper settlement and reporting.


Essential Functions

  • Treasury Operations: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for all aspects of Treasury tasks to include related reporting for Board of Directors, Executive Management, ALCO, and others at the direction of the Supervisor of Treasury or VP of Treasury. Monitor daily and monthly deposit activity through the use of internal and external models. Authorize and monitor daily derivative collateral calls, monthly derivative interest payments and To Be Announced (TBA) margin calls. Prepare assumption files for the monthly Interest Rate Risk (IRR) modeling vendors. Assist with the asset/liability management (ALM) process as needed. Gather and maintain documentation for all Treasury functions to include trade settlement and safekeeping. Identifying, recommending, and implementing newly approved processes and/or tools to enhance efficiency and execution within the department. Assist in the review and reporting of the liquidity position. Assist with the rate change process. Review and update department procedures on an ongoing basis.
  • Treasury Department Strategic Assistance: Assist in the development and review of funding and liquidity strategies. Assist with the review of the asset/liability management (ALM) process reporting, including review and validation of assumptions, review of results for accuracy, and analyzing relevant what if scenarios. Assist in the development of supplement standard reports as appropriate based on strategic goals and/or emergent market conditions.
  • Other duties as required: Assist in a wide variety of ad hoc special projects related to all aspects of Treasury as an internal consultant and/or project owner.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications


Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business.
  • 2+ years' experience within the Treasury, Finance, or Accounting fields to include:
  • 1+ years' using Finance software systems and general use of databases.
  • 1+ years' experience in Treasury or Finance related field within a Financial Institution. (preferred)

Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of accounting experience could be substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of work experience.

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of Asset Liability management (ALM) risk analysis, investments, and hedging concepts.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and benchmarking.
  • Knowledge of derivatives and secondary market mortgage sales.
  • Understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) relating to a financial institution environment as well as general awareness of relevant regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to handle multiple, changing assignments/priorities.
  • Ability to make rational, independent business decisions using a high level of common sense.
  • Verbal and written communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Literacy in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of credit union products and services.
  • Must be comfortable working in highly collaborative environments.
  • Able to learn new and emerging concepts quickly.
  • Able to maintain good productivity and handle multiple tasks.
  • (preferred) Skills in the development of formulas and querying/reporting tools.

Additional Information


The salary range for this position is $51,937.60 to $68,161.60 (S14)

This position is eligible for our corporate bonus program based on company performance.
