About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Capital Markets Middle Office Associate to work as part of the WFBI CIB Operations team that provides trade support to all CIB Front Office lines of business for the FX, IRS, and securities business (Bonds/ Repos/Rev Repos). Responsibilities include minimizing financial losses by identifying and resolving trade capture errors, reconciling trade activity between system of record and any trade-related documentation, drafting, as needed, trade confirmations, amendments and termination and managing the full end to end confirmation of these Transactions. Another function of this role also captures implementing and maintaining controls within the confirmation processes. The role requires a good knowledge of FX, IRS and securities markets, understanding of middle office trade workflow controls and the effects of operational breakdowns; and a sound understanding of the full front to back process within a trading environment.

In this role, you will:
  • Provides MO trade support to all CIB Front office desks for all FX, IRS, Bond, Repos / Reverse Repos trades
  • Confirm and approve all trades as per documented procedure
  • Assist in resolving trade discrepancies caused from booking errors or ancillary breaks.
  • Ensure exceptions in the trade flow are investigated and satisfactorily resolved in a timely manner.
  • Review the daily margin calls issues by the DCM team and work with the BO team regarding settlement of same
  • Compile/ review the collateral bond report and unencumbered asset file daily in Clearview
  • Complete the daily FX exposure report.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and where possible apply this to add value to the existing operational procedures and other improvement procedures.
  • Make appropriate decisions in line with critical deadlines, high value trades and sensitive clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational and regulatory controls and procedures
  • Build strong relationships across the business with the relevant teams including regular communication with the Front Office.
  • Ability to self-motivate and self-manage personal development in line with goals and personal development plan - take personal responsibility for own performance.
  • Ability to work well within a team, meet targets and interact with a wide range of people including senior management.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Candidates must have a strong academic background and proven experience in similar roles within Operations departments of financial institutions.
  • Experience in securities markets (especially Bonds / Repo / Rev Repo / Margining process )
  • Good understanding of FX and IRS trade flow.
  • The candidate should have a good knowledge of Microsoft Suite, excel and access as well as being systems orientated in general.
  • Must be analytical with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to escalate appropriately, make informed assessments of issues and suggest corrective actions.
  • The candidate should possess strong problem-solving skills, a high focus on attention to detail, be deadline orientated and be productive under pressure.
  • Experience in trade booking & accounting systems which includes Blackrock, Simcorp Dimension, Bloomberg, Euroclear/ Fed/ DTC as well as general Financial Services systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of using VBA Macros and SQL an advantage.
