Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $19.99 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. This position is located at 1751 Varsity Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606.
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Telecommunications Center answers emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and other law enforcement agencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, disseminates information and dispatches Officers as needed. Wildlife Telecommunications' primary job is to provide centralized communications for over 200 Officers in the Wildlife Enforcement Division. The Wildlife Resources Commission has 9 assigned Districts that cover all 100 counties in North Carolina. We assist in the enforcement of N.C. Wildlife laws and statutes as well as helping the public in understanding these laws through our general information phone lines located in the communication center. These laws and statutes include hunting, trapping, and boating regulations. The Law Enforcement Division Telecommunications Center employs a highly trained and dedicated staff that takes pride in providing quality customer service to the public and the Wildlife Enforcement Officers we serve.
This position receives requests for assistance by radio, telephone, and Division of Criminal Information Network (DCIN) terminals from field personnel and ensures proper assistance is received. Individual also receives requests for assistance from other governmental agencies, federal, state, and local, and initiates action to ensure delivery of assistance that is within the jurisdiction of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, and which is approved by the Commission.
The position will receive requests for assistance from other agencies that monitor our frequency, U.S. Fish and Wildlife and U.S. Forestry Service. Provide them with same information that the wildlife officer requested. Examples are driver’s license information, vehicle registration information, and other enforcement-related requests that are accessed through our Division of Criminal Information Network (DCIN).
Other duties include receiving reports from the public or other agencies of violation of federal or state game, fish, and boating laws and initiating action to ensure appropriate enforcement action; receiving reports of fish kills, and unusual water pollution, and initiating appropriate action, including relaying information to other concerned agencies without delay; and receiving requests for information from commission employees via radio, DCIN terminal or by telephone and obtain the requested information utilizing reference books, DCIN data or other agencies; then transmit this information back to the employee.
Receives requests from the public on the interpretation of laws rules and regulations of the Wildlife Resources Commission and information pertaining to season openings and other general information about rules and regulations as well as requests on NC Wildlife Resources functions and programs and transmits these requests to the appropriate division personnel. The position receives requests from the public for information on dealing with injured or orphaned animals and gives rehabilitation information when appropriate.
A normal 40 hours work week is associated with the position; individual schedules will vary. The duties and responsibilities of this position will require some weekend, after-hours, and holiday work.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and sufficient experience to demonstrate an ability to work effectively under pressure situations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Must meet the applicable education, employment, and training standards as required to be Department of Criminal Information (DCI) certified; must be DCI certified or become certified within 120 days of employment.
