Hybrid Yoga Studio & Wellness Manager: Studio management 2 days per week. Wellness Management 3 days per week.
Down Under School of Yoga, New England's premier yoga school is growing. We are currently looking for individuals passionate about the connection between how we move, eat, and feel to join our management team. The new wellness collaborative spaces combining Down Under School of Yoga and Live Alive Organic Cafe opened in Harvard Square and South End, and we are looking to add to our team. This role will seamlessly flow between in-studio management and wellness management.
In the Wellness Manager role you are responsible for a team of 15+ bodyworkers, massage therapists and ayurvedic practitioners, maintaining bookings, liaising between studio managers and wellness practitioners and maintaining our “Unwind” wellness spaces in Brookline, Harvard Square, Newton and South End.
In the Studio Manager role responsibility lies in the overall success of the individual studio you manage. Priorities include recruiting and retaining students and ensuring the gold standard of warm, welcoming customer service, curating good relationships with teachers and ensuring classes run smoothly technically, temperature wise and atmospherically; ensuring the cleanliness and order of the studio is impeccable and developing a vibrant network of relationships and events in the wider community.
Wellness Manager responsibilities:
- Recruits, hires, onboards, and off-boards all bodyworkers and Wellness Practitioners
- Oversees all Unwind Wellness Spaces in Newton, Brookline, Harvard Square and Boston South End
- Manages all wellness and clinic bookings, rescheduling and cancellations
- Keeps the studio management team up to date on all wellness related policies and procedures
- Handles facility requests and needs, cleanliness, and upkeep
- Conducts weekly website and MBO (MindBody Online) audits
- Has weekly check-ins with Wellness Practitioners
- Schedules and maintains availability for Wellness Practitioners
- Coordinates with Marketing to promote Wellness, setting up promotions and new package offerings
- Runs and reports monthly Wellness financial reports (budget, income vs. expense, etc)
- Trains and updates wellness staff on all wellness protocols via monthly one on one meetings and/or emails (Newsletters)
- Runs and recruits for the recurring massage program (40+ dedicated members booked in at a recurring frequency)
Studio Manager Responsibilities:
- Maintains excellence in customer service, teacher and student community relations, operations, and the day-to-day functions of a busy studio. Care of Student, Care of Teachers and Care of Facilities
- Ensures individual weekly and monthly tasks are complete in Asana (project management tool)
- Maintains weekly schedules and weekly breakdowns for their entire teams
- Attends alternating weekly Studio Managers Sales meeting (WIG Call) and Front of House (desk and studio managers) meetings/calls to connect with other managers, report on weekly sales targets and discuss facilities related agenda
- Strives to hit weekly KPIs of Newcomer Sales and Retention for their specific location
- Ensures the efficient and organized operation of their particular studio location and class schedule, including troubleshooting Zoom technicalities for livestream classes
- Maintains and oversees daily cleaning and organization and has keen attention to detail over their studio
Ideal candidates:
- Self-motivated and proactive individual with a love of working with people and supporting their movement and wellness journeys
- Strong background in sales, exceptional customer service and the ability to multitask
- Able to create strategies toward success for wellness offerings, newcomer sales & recruitment, student retention, membership conversion, and student lifetime value
- Able to drive memberships, enrollment and bookings through inside and outside sales, partnerships, and business development efforts.
- Comfortable being “the face” of Down Under when on desk, maintaining a warm and professional environment while caring for students, teachers and facilities
- Flexibility to jump into all areas of management from enrolling recurring massage clients to selling memberships, to cleaning the floors and maintaining facilities.
- Excellent writing skills for personalized communications to students and management team.
- Excellent phone skills when outreaching to the community or to our members for support, sales, and enrollment
- Strong attention to detail/organization to ensure meticulous cleanliness Unwind locations and yoga studio space
- Seamless tech/AV function and troubleshoot ability for livestream classes
- An eye for effective marketing and some social media experience is a plus - our managers collaborate with the marketing team on content
- Desire to grow personally and professionally in a long-term career with exponential growth potential as our school expands
- A personal relationship/practice/love of yoga & wellness, and an appreciation for Down Under's national reputation as a disruptor in the yoga/wellness industry.
- An appreciation for different movement modalities (Down Under has nationally-known teachers of all methodologies)
- Some night and weekend availability to account for peak class times and desk coverage
- A 200 Hour Yoga Teacher - preferred, not required, since teaching is additional income on top of Studio Manager base pay.
Experience with MindBody Online (MBO), Google Docs, Sheets, Forms and familiarity with Apple products - preferred
