About the Billing Support Specialist Role

Upperline Health is seeking a Billing Support Specialist to support a team of clinicians in delivering complex health services by providing telephone billing support and assistance to patients and team members across all our podiatric clinics. To be successful in this role, this individual will have prior experience working with medical billing in a front office or customer support setting, familiarity with medical terminology and insurance as well as exceptional customer service experience. Ideal candidates will also be bilingual with fluency in Spanish and English. This person must be an outstanding communicator, and a team player who demonstrates strong attention to detail and thrives in a collaborative environment. This role is remote.


What You’ll Do

  • Effectively triage a high-volume of inbound or outbound medical billing related calls by asking appropriate fact-finding questions, (expected call volume is 150-200 per day)
  • Primary focus of calls will be inbound, but will also include outbound calls as needed
  • Resolve billing related questions and issues with patients in a timely and appropriate manner with minimal need to escalate to the billing specialist
  • Provide excellent communicator, able to explain billing resolutions in an informational, influential, concise, and personable manner with outstanding etiquette
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding payment arrangements, account documentation, proper disclosures, and update of patient information
  • May be requested to support and perform other duties based on business demand


Qualifications of the Billing Support Specialist

  • Experience working in a front desk or customer support role in a healthcare setting, preferably in an outpatient clinic
  • Significant familiarity or experience with medical insurance, medical billing and medical terminology
  • Previous experience working with an EMR, Athenahealth EMR is highly preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) is preferred but not required
  • Previous experience prioritizing a high-volume of calls and utilizing effective time management skills while also providing high quality customer service in a compassionate and professional manner with each interaction
  • Must be an effective communicator and be able to explain billing resolutions in an informational, influential, personable and concise manner with outstanding etiquette
  • Tenacious problem solver, with demonstrated capacity to embrace complex problems and arrive at effective solutions
  • Enjoys working in a team-based environment with active collaboration
  • Strong written communication skills with success in providing notes, updates, and written communications via computer systems
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment that relies on the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities, yet is still able to balance that energy and drive with sensitivity and compassion


Compensation

Compensation is commensurate to compensation for similar positions in the region and based on prior training and experience
